Players profile - by A.Millerick
Here is a presentation of the squad, done by our correspondent, in live from Göteborg - Sweden
Forwards :
STEVIE RODDIE – The Roddie number 9 jersey is another of the most popular ones in the club shop on Avenyn. Years of quality, hard work and goals have helped earn Roddie the special affection he receives from GC’s fans and players. A former Stoke City player, who received his footballing education at the Duncan Ferguson Football Academy in Scotland, Roddie is a good finisher, who can pick a pass like few others in the team. He started last season with a bang, scoring goals from everywhere, before injuries hampered his campaign. Manager Garrett recently tied Roddie to a new two year deal - a move which ended IFK Göteborg’s interest in the shaven headed Scotsman.
JOHANNES HAGLUND – After spells in the Dutch Eredivisie and Chinese Super League the Celts were delighted to have Johannes back for the second half of last season. Haglund is definitely a talent -sometimes quite an unpredictable talent. Johannes seems to have been born with that rare ability which allows him to score goals from the most impossible situations. The big Swedish striker scored some fine goals last season, and accepted his goal of the season award in Chinese – which is something none of the other squad could do. With a full pre-season behind him Johannes will be some force in the league next season. I don’t think many central defenders will enjoy seeing his Haglund and his Mohican haircut in 2013.
ADAM GARRETT – Adam is definitely the youngest member of the GC squad, but he still managed to get a lot of game time last season and get involved in the proceedings. A player blessed with pace and another with a good engine, Adam often appears to hate his dad for no reason. If Ads makes a mistake it’s often his dad’s fault – something which Sean seems to take quite well. But in all seriousness, Adam is a promising player, who can be a handful when he wants to be. Barry’s currently training Ads up in the gym in preparation for his move into proper youth football. We wish him the best and hope to see him at some of our games giving his dad shit.
