Players profile - by A.Millerick
Here is a presentation of the squad, done by our correspondent, in live from Göteborg - Sweden
Wing midfielders :
ROBIN PERSSON – Definitely no relation of ‘The Alvinator’, Robin is a very useful footballer indeed. Often compared to Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg, Robin chips in with a lot of goals from midfield. Garrett prefers to use Robin on the right side of midfield, and who could blame him, as Persson often causes opposition defences plenty of problems with his pace and ability. Again, Robin missed a few games last season, and as one of the more accomplished players in the GC squad, Garrett will be hoping to have the local lad available more often. Robin is a good guy, apart from when he leaves his keys at away grounds, which is quite a common occurrence.
ARMAN RAFTARI – The most boring member of the GC squad made up for his disappointing banter last season with some good displays in midfield and defence. Now in his more senior years, Raftari still manages to get up and down the right touchline. When given the opportunity Arman is more than capable of putting in some David Beckham-esque crosses. A lover of Italian Serie A, Arman once had a trial at Udinese, only to be turned down because of his poor dressing room stories. On a serious note, Arman is an important part of the Celtic set up and is a well-liked guy within the dressing room.
MARK JOHNSTONE – Gothenburg Celtic’s very own Nakamura. Whether it’s whipping in free-kicks, curling fine crosses in or showing fine technique, Johnstone can do it all. Well not really, but Mark is certainly a legend at the Celtic. Often seen charging down the touchline shouting encouragement, Scotland’s Nakamura is also a popular man to sit with on a night out. Well, before he’s had a few beers anyway. Mark is a committed Celtic man, whose been rewarded for his loyalty and endeavour with his very own box at Celtic’s Heden ground. If seen sleeping anywhere in the Gothenburg vicinity in a drunken state, please ignore his Scottish accent, and return him to Sean Garrett’s house.
SAS RAFTARI – The younger of the feared Raftari clan, Sasa is definitely the more interesting of the brothers. Once lauded as Iran’s answer to Zinedine Zidane, Sas has proved useful in the midfield when he’s been available to play. His brother says he’s lazy, but maybe Arman is jealous of the fact that Sas has more skills than him. It would be good to see Sas available more often next season, as I’m sure with a run of games behind him he could be a useful part of the GC squad.
